The Group has retail sales of optical products which can be grouped into four principal categories: (i) prescription and non-prescription eyewear, (ii) contact lenses, (iii) sunglasses, protective eyewear and reading glasses, and (iv) accessories, such as cleaning products for eyeglasses and contact lenses. The Group’s network of stores totals 470 locations, consisting of 413 locations in Canada and 57 in the United States. Prescription lenses are manufactured at the company’s central manufacturing and distribution facility located in Montreal.

 

Under the current leadership team, NVG has achieved outstanding operating and financial success. Since 2013 NVG’s store network has increased from 70 to 470 locations, primarily by way of acquisition, and its enterprise value has increased by over 10x, from approximately $100 million to in excess of $1 billion. This has resulted in significant value creation for its shareholders. During this same period, significant investments have been made in the existing store network, new stores, the laboratory, warehouse and distribution centre.

 

Functions and Responsabilities

  • Assist in maintaining the smooth running of the Sales Audit Team
  • Work on special project such as acquisitions and system changes (POS)
  • Monitoring of Inventory results and balances
  • Review Bank Reconciliations with large volume of transactions
  • Documentation of team’s process
  • Development and maintenance of Operational reporting (Store process progress)
  • Perform procedural audits
  • Review Team’s monthly journal entries
  • Assist in the set up of 3rd Party Account (Telus/Provider Connect)
  • Ensures all financial data is posted to the GL
  • Participate in the preparation of work files for the financial year end and the month-end
  • Review the reconciliation of Balance sheets accounts
  • Generate reports on demand
  • Perform other ad hoc work

 

Experience and skills required

  • College degree in accounting or equivalent
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience or similar position
  • Bilingual – French and English spoken and written
  • Ability to work under pressure and according to daily priorities
  • Good team spirit
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Able to meet deadlines
  • Adaptability and flexibility
  • Autonomous and responsible
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and Outlook
  • Knowledge of Great Plains an asset
  • Strong communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Experience in the retail sector is an asset
